Do Seadoos have impellers?
Your jet ski has a jet propulsion engine, which has an impeller that uses rotating fan blades to suck water into the engine and then forcefully eject it. These two motions—sucking in water and then ejecting it back out—are what propel the jet ski forward.
Where is the impeller located on a PWC?
Unlike propellers, the impellers are located in a special pipe, known as the wear ring. Fitted tightly within this frame, the jet ski’s impeller produces a sucking force that results in a water jet. This means the pump sucks water through the intake grate, and pushes it out from the steering nozzle.
What are Seadoo impellers made of?
. The Solas Seadoo impellers are made with 3 to 4 blades. These Solas Sea Doo impellers are made of polished stainless steel with a thin blade design for better performance. And comes with the Sea doo impeller seal cone.
How do you remove the impeller from a shaft on a jet ski?
Remove and seperate the whole jet pump from PWC. Hold the front end of the drive shaft with a SHAFT HOLDER on bench vise. Remove the impeller. Turning clockwise will loosen the impeller.
How do you read the impeller pitch?
Remember this rule of thumb: For impeller degree pitch, rpm’s will change approximately 400 rpm’s. As you drop in pitch, rpm’s increase, and as you go up in pitch, rpm’s decrease. So if we want to raise our rpm’s we should choose a lower pitch impeller.
How do I know if my Sea-Doo impeller is bad?
In addition to lower acceleration, you may notice that the Sea-Doo vibrates more as you accelerate. The vibration could be caused by space between the ring and the impeller, although, it could also mean that the Sea-Doo has sucked up debris into the impeller.
What impeller pitch do I need?
Your engine has a recommended wide open throttle rpm range. In most cases you purchase a PWC with a stock impeller on it that hits for example 6900rpm. So if we want to raise our rpm’s we should choose a lower pitch impeller. Following the rule, going down to a 14/19 pitch should raise our rpm’s to about 7300.
