All appendices should be summarized in your paper where it is relevant to the content. Appendices should also be arranged sequentially by the order they were first referenced in the text [i.e., Appendix 1 should not refer to text on page eight of your paper and Appendix 2 relate to text on page six].
The simplest option is to add your appendices after the main body of your text (namely after the reference list). If this is what you do, just continue with the same page numbering. Another option is to put the appendices in a separate document that is delivered with your dissertation.
Appendices can consist of figures, tables, maps, photographs, raw data, computer programs, musical examples, interview questions, sample questionnaires, etc. Include a scan of your IRB approval letter on this page. We recommend you include a copy or scan of your IRB approval letter as an appendix.
If your paper only has one appendix, label it “Appendix” (without quotes.) If there is more than one appendix, label them “Appendix A,” “Appendix B,” etc. (without quotes) in the order that each item appears in the paper. In the main text, you should refer to the Appendices by their labels.
