Are PRS pickups good?
the pickups have always been okay, quite solid, but after six months I’ve upgraded 100% of every PRS to Seymour Duncan’s or D’Marzio. but after reading all the reviews and YouTube videos I thought I would give the 57/08 a chance. absolutely one of the best PRS pickups ever made.
How can I tell if my truck is wax potted?
Wax-potted coils unwind nicely, unlike lacquer-potted coils which might as well be glued together. You can recognize lacquer by its thin, shiny, wet-looking coat, compared to wax which is thicker and more dull-looking. Fender used wax more often than not, but sometimes they only dipped the pickups—whereas I soak mine.

Is the Gibson SE Custom 24 a good pickup upgrade?
Since this is an incredibly decent guitar for the price, it’s a good candidate for a pickup upgrade, as the included humbucker set is of the cheaper PRS stock variety. They sound okay but the SE Custom 24 can sound much better with a nicer set of pickups from a third party.
